LEGAL ADVISOR – Peter Lillico; B.A., LL.B

Peter is a lawyer practising in Peterborough, Ontario. He is a past President of the Peterborough Law Association and the Peterborough Estate Planning Council. Peter has served on various boards of director, both corporate and non-profit. He has taught law related courses at the college and university level, and regularly writes articles for newspapers and magazines. He is married with a blended family of four children. Peter is also a Humanist Officiant  and legal advisor to Humanist Canada's board of directors.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Kathy Meidell, B.A, E.C.E (Hon)

Past Second Vice President of of Humanist Canada (2004-2006), Kathy has been actively promoting the organization and humanism in Canada since 2002. She is also the founder and director of Camp Quest Ontario, the first and only summer camp in Canada that teaches critical thinking and humanism to children aged 7-16. As president of the Society of Ontario Freethinkers, she helped grow the organization from 30 members in 2004 to a current membership of 100. Her professional background and experience in business marketing, management and public relations, combined with her creativity, graphic design skills, and positive attitude, bring a well-rounded perspective to the evolving Executive Director role. Accomplishments include organizing our 40th anniversary convention in 2008 (the largest humanist conference in Canadian history to-date) which propelled Humanist Canada into the public spotlight and boosted membership, and our first annual lecture series "Reason Out Loud" in April 2009. Her artistic skills include the following designs: a new look for Humanist Canada in 2009, complete with refreshed logo and newsletter, with professional artist Linda Shaw, to encourage branding and public recognition; the poster for our first public transit ad campaign in Toronto in early 2009; and new Humanist Canada's T-shirts and keychains. Kathy is also our website designer and webmaster and has been a licensed Humanist Officiant since 2004. We are pleased to have such a multi-talented individual and dedicated HC member as our Executive Director.

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR: Lucien Khodeir, B.Sc.

A lifelong Humanist originally from Lebanon, Humanist Canada was very pleased to welcome Lucien as Financial Administrator in October 2008. From 1987 – 1998, Lucien worked as a taxation specialist and field auditor with Ontario’s Ministry of Finance. In 1994, he received his designation as Certified General Accountant. From 1998 to 1999, he lead the task force of the Special Investigations Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Finance to investigate fraud in Ontario. In 2001, Lucien started his own consulting practice in the tax recovery industry. To date, Lucien has reviewed the accounting systems and records of over 100 organizations and has recovered over $1 million for them. He is also a published author in the field of children's civil rights, the father of two, and speaks fluent French and Arabic.
