HALIFAX BLOCKS ATHEIST ADS

Halifax’s transit system won’t allow an advertisement saying “You Can Be Good Without God” on its buses.

Ads submitted to Metro Transit are reviewed and if it’s concluded that people will be upset, the ads are rejected, said Metro Transit spokeswoman Lori Patterson.

Humanist Canada, the Canadian organization behind the ads, said it hopes to place the message in bus terminals and subway stations across Canada over the next few weeks.

Patterson said Metro Transit has refused other controversial ads in the past.

She said with public transit primarily funded by taxpayers Metro Transit doesn’t want to be “any more controversial than we have to be.
